Chipping some tires!

This was the first autocross in which I participated since I upgraded the wheels, tires, steering, and brakes. It was great!

I was in Street Mod, under SCCA classing rules, so I was up against some modded STI’s and some WRX’s :-/. However, I managed to place second in class with a best time of 44.891 on street tires. The FTE for the day was 40.63x by a fully prepped neon (shame, shame, I know) and sponsored driver, and on his heals was a STI with R-tires with a time of 41.1xx.

This event was held in Verona, VA, near Staunton, VA.

Anyhow, I had a great time. The car is very different, but in great ways. The next thing I am going to do is to lower the coilovers and get the center of gravity down. I think I am also going to get some shorter and must stiffer rear springs. I'll keep ya posted!

Now I just need to teach the driver to be smoother and faster ;-).

A group from Madison Motorsports went to this autocross. It was a convienant 30 minutes from our house. The below pictures are of the poeple from our club. Overall there were over 80 cars there.

One of the coolest things about this trip is that Alison joined me in her red Miata.

So, by driver and then car, here were the attendees from MM -

Peter - XR4ti
Alison - Miata
Sean - E30 BMW 325
Dave - 240
Lindsay - Dave's 240
Ryan - Supra
Brent - RX-7
